Profile

When I was elected in 2019 to Rother District Council I had no idea what a rollercoaster ride I was embarking upon! The experience has been rewarding, challenging, amusing, and most of all worthwhile. To be able to effectively help Sackville Ward residents with everyday concerns from parking, hedges, shelters, signage, energy, planning enforcement, flooding, safety, graffiti, noise, harassment, waste, benches, etc is an honour. One of the major challenges we all faced was Covid. Over 30 volunteers stepped up to help those less able during this crisis. I was the BEAT Sackville coordinator and shopped etc for many folks myself. A word of thanks must go to those selfless people that gave of their time in our hour of need.

As a no-nonsense Lancashire lass, my most fulfilling years have just been spent serving the community of Sackville Ward and the wider Rother District. Since becoming a Cabinet member in 2020 my role became more intense but productive too. I have responsibility for Culture, Communities, Tourism, Sport/Leisure throughout the District along with serving on the Licensing Committee, initially on the Planning Committee plus the Audit & Standards Committee. Major achievements are listed on the reverse of this leaflet, but ones I am particularly proud of are the 1066 Country Walk, the East Parade shelters (with exemplary work by Bexhill Heritage volunteers), the innovative Leisure strategy and being part of the Bexhill Roaming Speedwatch team. As a Trustee on the Board of the De La Warr Pavilion I’m thrilled at the significant Levelling Up fund recently awarded.

I ask for your vote again to continue the work I and my genuine Independent colleagues have begun.

Thank you.
